A Proverb, today is very much in vogue, that is “Learning is earning”.
I do not negate it but hesitate surely to accept it fully. It may be true to some extent only but not completely. In place of this, I would say with some alteration or extension that“Learning is earning but by virtue of humility”. Humility provides ability and then comes wealth that is described in the following Sanskrit verse also-
विद्यां ददाति विनयं विनयाद् याति पात्रताम्।
पात्रत्वात् धनमाप्नोति धनात् धर्मं ततः सुखम्॥
We should know that there is a great difference between wealth and money. The real Wealth is earned by Learning. When you need Physical, mental and spiritual wealth, then you must earn it by humbleness.
Here I would like to quote the great Chinese philosopher Confucius. He was on his death bed, surrounded by his disciples. One of them asked him to preach his last words. Confucius opened his mouth and asked the disciples to see within and tell whether his tongue was present? They said laughingly- “Why not, that is already there”.Then the philosopher asked “Now tell me, whether teeth are there?”. Again pupils laughed “How it is possible. you have gone so old. Those have gone far earlier”. “yes right” said Confucius. “Now think yourself that the tongue came earlier and exists, Teeth came later and they have gone. Why? The tongue is humble and still alive till my last breath. Teeth have been snatched by nature because those were cruel, to chew the objects. Be humble to all, learn by nature and you will never tremble in your mission.”
Friends, this is the first and last norm of Education to be humble and never tremble in the worldly war. This will help us to concentrate on our prime goal to excel ourselves with quality learning and serve the society.
